Our stay in Bariloche was really pleasant. It is a pretty little town set on the edge of a very large lake one of about 5 in the area. Our hostel was 7.5 kms out of town but there was a regular bus we could catch. As it was Easter the town was full of tourists many from other S American countries and lots from northern Argentina and the weather was perfect at about 20 degrees during the day. For the Easter weekend the town had 'built´a 7.500kg Easter egg in the main square and on the Sunday they broke it up and gave it away to anyone who was around the idea was to break a Guinness record - not sure if they succeeded but did try some of the chocolate. I have never seen so many chocolate shops in one little area apparently it's their specialty when the ski season isn´t on and I imagine that lots of hot chocolate is drunk in the winter. Went up a chair lift to see the view - spectacular! The local dogs are amazing they chase the cars on the main road literally wait for a ´victim´ and then get right up near the wheel and chase we had one dog at the hostel who followed people to the bus stop and then waited for someone to come back we´re not sure how it remembered who belonged but when I went to the supermarket about 1.5 kms away it was there and followed me back via the beach. It seemed to know that I was from the hostel or it just took a chance and followed anyone to anywhere! Tried some more Argentine beef but still think ours is better although the spices they rub onto it are very nice but a little tough for me.
