Today was a really relaxing day. We really didn't do that much, but we both needed the day to just relax. I woke up not feeling so great, I'm really congested and feeling weak and tired. We ate breakfast and packed up all our stuff because we needed to check out of the hotel. We took a taxi down to a small street where there are many homestays. We walked into a couple but kept finding things wrong with them, the first had construction going on right outside the rooms so it would have been really noisy all day, the second only had a room with one bed and it was really small, a couple other places were fully booked. We were about to go back to the original place with the construction when we stopped at one last place and thank goodness, really liked it. Since it is cheaper than the other places we each got our own room, which we were both really happy about. After a while of rooming with other people it feels amazing to have your own space. The rooms are really basic, just a bed, side table, bathroom. There's no sink in the bathroom which is a little odd but there is a little faucet coming out of the wall which I use to wash my face. Our two rooms share a large balcony / patio in the front with two tables and four chairs. It's really a cute place. All these homestays look very similar. Very small doorway to enter the homestay which opens up onto a big outdoor area with lots of separate buildings. There are little shrines located throughout the area which they put offerings and incense on every morning. Religion really permeates everyday life here in Bali. It's beautiful to see.
We got set up in our rooms and relaxed for a while. I wasn't feeling well all day so we didn't really do much. We read, went on the internet (which doesn't work very well here) and took a nap. I was able to sleep for about an hour, Jeannette slept for 3 hours. We went out for dinner at the Warung Lokal around the corner which has really delicious cheap food.
Tomorrow we are going on a day long excursion to some places around the island with that taxi driver who took us to the yoga class. As it turned out he was also the one to pick us up from our hotel and take us to the homestay street. It was kind of random. He agreed to charge us 300,000 rupiah (a little over $30) for the day and we would tell him when he picked us up where we want to go. He's a really funny man so it'll be an interesting day long adventure with him tomorrow.
