Oceana Mesa Resort Shower Room

Ocerana Mesa Shower

Massage!

This was the big day where we had quarters ready for hot showers! I was up at 5:30 and the first in a large, clean room. 4 quarters allowed you 10 minutes of hot water so I got everything laid out to maximize my time. My toiletry kit has most anything you could want for any situation EXCEPT shampoo. Shower gel could be a lot worse!

Geese must be attracted to Pepper. Once again I am making breakfast with Bob off showering (a la last year in Lassen) when a big white goose comes to the rig all “honked” off with Pepper being in her space. Such a racket but not a peep out of Pepper!

Rain followed us down the coast as we headed towards Lompoc and Jalama Beach with dry camping.” facilities. The forecast was rain for the next two days. We decided that if we had to sit inside, we should have hook ups and ditched Jalama. We pulled into Ocean Mesa RV Resort at El Capitan north of Santa Barbara on a lark. This is the Ritz of RV parks although no ocean views! We are paying the most for a campsite that we have in our lives. We could have gone to Best Western! Swimming pool, hot tub, hiking trails, free bike rentals for the beach path, private landscaped spot, lovely bathrooms and FREE Wi-Fi etc. But it is really raining! I worked, labeled pictures and Bob paid bills, read email. Pepper snoozed away the afternoon in between little walks we took to get the “kinks out” during a let up.

During a brief break in the rain, we opened the door while we were reading before dinner. The next thing we knew was that Pepper was gone! For as crotchety as he is with other dogs, he went to visit one! Lesson learned…..always on a leash!

We really appreciate your comments on the journal. On the home page there is a “leave a message” link on the top right hand corner. OR you can send us a regular email.

As was true with our previous trip, many of you wanted to hear about our food/wine adventures. We would like to remember them too! However, when we can sight see, we will clearly comment as well. We are hoping that day comes soon!!!!

Tonight is rib eye with a mesquite rub that will be pan seared and cooked. Boiled small yukons. (Remember, without a BBQ we have two burners, a fry pan and pot.) Tonight is yet again another Ridge zin, Mazzoni 2003.

It is a very short walk to the hot tub. Adults only between 9:00-10:00 pm. We may be there!
