I had today off of work but Narika didn't so I walk my self on down to the beach and sat and watched all the surfers just standing on their boards with paddles because there wasn't much in the way of waves. I looked around some of the shops and such as well. It was a nice quite afternoon, pretty warm outside and super sunny, not a cloud in the sky. When Narkia got home, we took Stella (her domestic worker) home and we headed to Canal walk to do a little shopping. Narika needed a few things so I stopped in Mr. Price, one of my new fave stores and got a couple of shirts. Just simple cheap plain ones because I didn't bring much in lieu of clothing thinking I might purchase some but since I have had my credit card stolen I haven't been spending any money. :D I suppose that is a good thing in a way but it is not convenient. Canal walk is a super huge mall, bigger even then the Novi mall... more like the Galleria in Houston or Mall of American minus the roller coater. Super fancy.
Yesterday at work was super awesome because I got assigned to pens 3 and 10, all by myself. I had 3 gannets and 1 Albatross to take care of, and that may seem simple but I basically had to pill, force feed with water, darrows and formula the albatross every hour. And swim them most of the day. I got some cool pics of me tubing him, but it is a super big and strong bird, it was a bit tough. I think I have him master, and I think we have an understanding so it was way awesome to get through the day unscathed by any major wounds inflicted by him. :) One of my co-volunteers got a nice huge gash (through her gloved hand) from the albatross. Ouch. BIG BEAK!
Wednesday at SANCCOB I worked in CRU for the first time, Chick Rearing Unit. I got to see a penguin that was just hatched - less then a day old. There were also a few that were a week and a few 2 weeks. They grow really fast! The few weeks olds and younger stay in small baskets because they are that small. The rest of them are in a pen and the are plump and fuzzy... and thier cries for food, I can't barely take it. I just want to pick them up and snuggle them!!
