Rain, rain and more rain! No hiking today and we probably will not see sunshine until Thursday. Really a shame but we will just have to return. I do feel sorry for all those families with little kids on spring break who are sitting in tents. A long day for the parents!

We found the Ripplewood Café within a mile of camp which had free Wi-Fi. Had some coffee and spent the better part of the morning in the parking lot doing work . Bob was happy that he found the NY Times in a very unlikely spot. Pepper snoozed.

Made a sandwich and salad for lunch which we ate while watching a George Clooney movie, The American. (really lame plot!). Took Pepper for a walk in the rain. He really has adapted. Sleeps most of the day and not underfoot at all.

While on the walk we realized that our camp lot was getting pretty “mushy”. In fact we got so concerned that we drove to the park head to change spots. After moving bikes and chairs in the rain we finally settled in. Should you ask….yes, we are having fun!

Rain was not predicted when I looked last week. Has really messed up our meal planning! We are “dry camping” so need to turn on the generator to use the oven. Hate to turn it on in such a serene setting. There will be no BBQ steaks tonight! We could go to the Big Sur Lodge, Post House, Ventana Inn or Nepenthe which are all wonderful and very close. Is it the fact that we don’t have 15 quarters for a hot shower very much needed before we put on our only business casual dress clothes? OR are we enjoying the adventure reminiscent of years ago when we barely spent $10 a day including gas! In the end we agreed on sausages, tortellini, salad and a nice 2003 Ridge Nervo cabernet.

And so to bed!
