We have stopped over in KL for 2 nights / 3 days on our way home. We arrived at 6am in the morning and after going through customs etc, arrived wearily at the hotel. To our delight they allowed us to check in immediately. We spent the day in and out of napping, shopping and the pool. Funnily, I can fly all the way home from Europe and not suffer jet lag - but stick a stop- over in and it knocks me about. We all felt it - and we're totally disorientated.
The only significant thing we did yesterday was the Twin Towers. The buildings are amazing, very majestic and stand out more for their design than their size I think. In front of them is a building with 6 levels of mostly high end brand names. The complex is huge and would drawf Chadstone. There are many other large shopping centres in the area too. We had dinner there and watched the night fall on KL, and the towers then lit up and sparkled in the night sky.
Today we slept in and missed breakfast. After finding our feet, we headed out to visit the Batu Caves / Hindu temple. Fortunately for us, as we were waiting for a taxi tat took 5 passengers, we were approached by a man who did private tours. Michael bartered a price and we headed off. Driving with this guy, he gave us a more scenic route with a commentary - so we learned a bit along the way. The case had 272 steps leading up to tem - but it was well worth the climb. There were monkeys running around us! They weren't social - so whilst they didn't approach us, they weren't bothered by us being there.
We then planned with the driver for him to take us on a night drive. He took us to a location tat again had wild monkeys - but these were a different breed. They would hold our hand and we could feed them. After this we went on a short boat trip to see the fire flies. These beetles with wings come out at night and their bellies actually illuminate. The trees all looked as thought they had fairy christmas lights on them.
tomorrow we are going to a water park / amusement park and will then head to the airport for our final joiney home. We won't be et lagged at least - and looking forward to seeing everyone!
