We drove along highway 98 along the Gulf coast and saw the remnant of hurricane Ivan and Katerina, the destruction was still evident. Lots of rebuilding and lots of building that were just walls and roofs.
We stopped in Foley Alabama, just north of Gulf Shores to be with Kay & Marlin, our friends from Alaska. this is the 5th time since meeting them in Soldotnantha Alaska that we have reunited. We had a great time sharing food and drink. We went to the famous Lambert's restaurant where they throw rolls at you and play practical jokes. the food was plentiful and very good. We also ate at Tacky Jacks a local eatery on the intercoastalstal waterway. We visited Lulu's restaurant, the sister of Jimmy Buffett.
Walking around historical Foley, we found an olde fashion soda fountain (Stacey's Rexall Drug Store) where you can get a meal for two for $6 and share a Key Lime Shake. Staceys is well known through out the south and has been written up in several magazines.
