Sunday, March 18th, arrived at the Phoenix International Raceway and got parked. Very unlevel site so we leveled as best as we could but still heading down hill. Went to Registration where we got our assignment which was parking again. No dinner this year; Monday breakfast instead. Monday morning was 38 degrees and after breakfast outside, we went on a tram ride for our orientation. Met with crew leader and Dale and Phyllis both in front gate area on early shift. Tuesday worked 5 hours. Some how when we got back to our rig, the steps into the coach seemed to be 5 feet off the ground. Tired!! Entry signs for Tuesday were all printed for AM instead of PM so we were really slammed. Maybe Wednesday will be better. Ha Ha Worked from 6:45 am until 5:15 pm and would up in the middle of the road directing traffic. Steps into the RV grew to 10' tall. As far as we could get was the chair and the coach. Again, all signs were printed for AM. No grey tank space so best we could do was "spritz" down for a shower. What we would give for a bathtub to soak in. So sore it was tough to get in and out of bed but we went to work on Thursday and only worked our 5 hour shift and when replacements came along, we ran for the car and hoped no one would find us the rest of the day. The cook went on strike so we went out for dinner and then to WalMart to pick up a few things. Friday night entetainment was Bill Cosby (he was great), Saturday night Martina McBride and Sunday night a Beatles group. By the time Saturday came, we had our legs back so went over to the rally a few times for shopping and seminars. Only way into the exhibit area was to ride the tram. That made for long waits sometimes. Daytona has a better set up for a race track. On Sunday the Rally honored all Veterans and Dale took part in that. Lined everyone up by service and marched them down the track to the finish line area. Grandson of Senator Barry Goldwater gave a speech and a motorcycle group of black "buffalo soldiers" rode in formation around the track. They had quite a background in patriotism. Looking forward to doing nothing for a few days after we leave the Rally. Parking in the Mesa area at View Point RV Resort for two weeks. Will spend some time with Dales'sister and brother in law and Phyllis' son.
