Back at Crystal Crane Hot Springs...the lay of the land
The teepee...apparently it's a cabin with a hot tub in it.
A big chunk of lava at the entrance to the hot pool
That's us way in the background.
It's a really good sized hot pool, the water coming in is...
Looking east from the hot pool...wide open spaces.
A row of little cabins.
The hot pool and the pump house tapping into that lovely hot...
We decided to give ourselves a day off from traveling and what a great place to do that. We are, as you can see, way out in the wild blue yonder of Oregon, the town of Burns being the closes hamlet at 25 miles away. We drove into town this morning to get diesel and a few groceries and ran into a wild little snow storm. Our little Dixie was pretty interested in the ice crystals that blew into the truck and very daintily ate a few of them. I would imagine it was her first ever taste of snow.
Back to Crystal Crane Hot Springs and I wandered around to take a few photos of the place. I wanted you to see the steam rising off the pool but I guess the air temperature is not quite right for that. I'll try later.
So tomorrow early morning we will slip out of here and head over to Bend then decide which route to take to continue north and west. There are snow storms predicted for the mountain passes between here and there and we will do whatever we can to avoid it. Probably go up to The Dalles then over to Portland and Vancouver Washington.
