Rise & shine! We are off on a trip to remember. What an unbelievable experience, especially in a place like Egypt. Won’t say too much about our ballooning experience, just look at the photos. A picture paints a thousand words.
Later this afternoon we visited a few more TEMPLES (Valley of the Kings (taking photos were not permitted), Temple of Queen Hatshepsut or Hot Chicken Soup & Karnak Temples). I won’t bore you with many details except that the Karnak Temples took 2000 years to build. The Egyptians started building it, the Greeks & Romans also worked on in different periods, but it was never completed. They were all very spectacular and different in their own ways.
Overnight stay at Sonesta Hotel Luxor. Very Luxurious, pity we had very little time to enjoy the facilities.
24th March 2012
After realising that our bus trip from Luxor to Dahab was going to take 18 hours and travelling through some unstable/dangerous territory, we upgraded to a flight. In typical Egyptian style, the flight was delayed by 1 hour. The reason given for the delay was due to bad weather at Cairo. (There must have been one cloud in the sky!). To our surprise, we were upgraded to business class. Only a 1 hour flight, but we lapped it up with white table cloth service and lots of leg room.
Thank Goodness we opted to fly, as the bus trip which was suppose to take 18 hours ended up taking 26 hours due to some conflict between the authorities and the Bedium people.
A 1 hour bus drive from the airport took us to the Mercure Hotel.
