Sonesta Moon Goddess

20th March 2012 Back to Aswan (Bed No 4 - Cruise)

A short flight back to our hotel in Aswan, quickly collecting our suitcases, hopping onto a bus and off we went for lunch on our 5 Star Nile Cruiser “The Moon Goddess”.

This was a relaxing evening, as we sat on the deck talking, drinking and taking in the scenery. Our entertainment before dinner was a Nubian dancing show. The music was loud and joyful with the sound of their drums. The show was very interactive and you had no choice when you were dragger onto the stage but join in and dance. At least it was a good source of exercise before we were off to our Al a carte dinner. Hope that camera man didn’t get us on film as we looked pretty silly!! It had been an early and long day; we were all exhausted and were all in bed by 10.30pm.

21th March 2012 Sail to Kom Ombo

That was a great sleep and the breakfast was even better. We have a couple of great guys in our group, 3 New Zealanders & 6 Aussies and 2 Columbians. We have all gotten on really well, constantly joking around and laughing. Not sure what our Egyptian tour guide thinks of us, but he seems quite comfortable and adds to the conversations.

Today we visited the Kom Ombo Temple and again, what a spectacular and amazing sight. I was unable to control myself, so get ready to sit through hundreds of photos when we get back home. Just joking, I will cull them and show you only the great shots!

Tonight was” meet the crew & cocktail night in the lounge Bar before dinner. Our Captain, who also happens to be the ship’s doctor (what a cleaver man!) introduced all the staff while we sipped our complementary cocktails and enjoyed a few nibbles. And YES it was time again for dinner.

Unfortunately, a few from our group have become ill with the flu & sore throats. The staffs were great and were able to get them tablets from the pharmacy off shore. The Captain come doctor, even had to give one of the ladies a few shots, yes, you guessed it, in the bum! We tried to escape the sickness but Arthur became the next victim. Thankfully, he was given some tablets, had a nap and had it under control. He’s not sleeping near me tonight!
