July 6 - July 8

You can not drive to Zermatt as it is a walking town, so we drove to Täsch and took the train from there. We went there to hike up close to the Matterhorn. Once we got there we had a quick lunch and started our hike. The hike was beautiful and difficult, especially the first and last hour. There were a few cafes along the way which was odd to see when hiking through the mountains. We stayed overnight on the mountain at the Schönbielhutte. There were about 30 people there and there was a great view of the Matterhorn when the clouds would clear which was for about an hour. The only heating in the hut was by the wood fire stove in the dining room. Sleeping was done in bunkbeds that held five to a bunk. The washroom was an outhouse alongside the cliff but 12:30am we had an amayzing view of the Matterhorn and stars on the way. The next day we hiked back to Zermatt and relaxed having an excellent fondue for dinner. We headed back to Geneve the next morning.
