Oh my goodness! It was so hot today I think our brains boiled =)
Today Melissa's super sweet sister took us to a zoo called "The Living Dessert". It was really cool. They had a bunch of animals from Africa but also from the dessert here in the United States. We got to see giraffes, cheetahs, a leopard (who just so happened to scare the living daylights out of me), a bunch of tortoises, birds in different shapes and sizes and so much more.
We saw a wildlife show that the kids and I thought was a lot of fun and even went into the animal hospital. We saw a tortoise there that had been hit by a car and had his shell crushed but with the help of the staff at the living dessert was now almost recovered.
Of course we all had our favorite animals. Eric liked the leopard, Julia like the birds and Patric was excited to see all the turtle's and humming birds.
When we were done at the zoo we felt like we were boiled (it was so hot) so we decided to hit the pool. It was so nice. The pool was heated so at first it didn't even feel like we were getting cooled off but after a while we felt our brains cooling off. The kids were in the pool for almost three hours without getting out!
When we got home we made and ate dinner and then Melissa's good friend Steve came in from out of town. We all started playing monopoly and didn't finish until well after midnight.
Tomorrow we'll be heading off to Santa Maria. Melissa will be going with us. I can't wait to show the kids the places Melissa and I grew up in.
