Our last night in Delhi saw us back at the Aster Inn with an upgrade, a suite overlooking the road. While this might sound nice, the reality is constant noise from honking traffic and dogs barking all night and in the morning there was no hot water for the shower. Welcome to India! But sadly no this was good bye India. All holidays must come to an end and so has our adventure in India.
We had an amazing time, so many wonderful experiences and a few not so great, but still memorable. India probably isn't everyone's cup of tea but it sure was ours for the 22 days we toured around on our holiday. What we loved about India was the colour, everywhere you looked was bathed in bright light and colour. Everyone was friendly and while not many spoke english we met some wonderful characters. The food delicious even though so many times we had no idea what we'd ordered. We didn't have any tummy upsets at all while we were there!
For us the thing about visiting places like India is that it also reminds us that while we live in Australia and have modern cities, hot running water, electricity at the flick of a switch, access to medical facilities, a great number of people still get by on very little. Australia really is a lucky country and so are we for living here.
We have our photos and our memories (while they last!) and this website to remind us that we were there amongst it all - just us and 1.18 billion people living life to the full. Thank you India for being incredible!
