We spent a beautiful week in Biloxi, Mississipppi. Well actually it was Ocean Springs a little town right over the bridge from Biloxi. We stayed in the Gulf Island National Seashore Campground. We had 50 amps and water, the park has a dump station. The real perk was they honored the Golden Age National Pass. It cost us $8.00 a night to park our RV. Ya gotta try it out if you're ever in the area!!
Biloxi is located on a peninsula and across Biloxi's Back Bay in Southeastern Harrison County. It doesn't look or feel like the little town I grew up in.
Things do change!
When I was growing up here the beaches were lined with seafood cannery's and fishing piers, where all the fishing boats moored when bringing in their catch.
Today there are no signs of the cannery's or the fishing piers. Those hard working fishermen are all but gone and forgotten. My grandfather would go out in his fishing boat for weeks, come in and unload his catch at the cannery where my grandmother worked.
Hard work, back breaking and there is no trace of those days now!
Today the hottest ticket in town are the casino's and resturants that line the beaches!
Just let me say this,,,,, the food is great! Especially the All you you eat lunches at the Palace Casino Resort!
