Breakie in bed again.......to be honest we haven’t made up the bed, so the only place to sit is in bed. Ha!!!!! We managed to get some washing done and dried before we left for the Springs. This particular activity was for Phil. When we visited them the day before, there were so many people there it was the last place I wanted to be. However,” Love endures all things.” We arrived at 10.00am. Second in line and were the first ones in the Sulphur Pools. By the time I was in there I was so cold that my fingers and toes had past yellow to blue. Hence 40 degrees and the smell of rotten eggs was OK as I slowly defrosted. We had only been in there for 10 seconds and someone came and took our photo.....yes you will see it on Facebook or on the wall. Huge camera!!! We swapped around to the various pools, spas; Phil did some lap swimming – all up for 2hours. Yes. We went wrinkly. I enjoyed it as I was warm......

We then went to the Powerhouse Restaurant for lunch of pancakes and fresh fruit. Mmmm!

We then drove to Reefton, the place of light because it was the first place in NZ to have electricity. On the way through Lewis Pass we stopped for a walk along the Alpine Nature Walk. We had to park our van on the side of the road which made Phil a bit nervous – not enough room to turn around. Out of the side of the mountain was a big waterfall, there was a small lake & the alpine plant life was amazing. We walked the mainy before we settled. The park was pretty run down but friendly. An x farmer/stock agent/coal/gold miner known as Crumpy, gave us some local info and later a newspaper and bacon. Good bloke. He directed us to a local walk that took us over a swing bridge, along the side of a river, past an old power station and down to the other end of town. A good ¾ hr walk. Phil then BBQed some sausages and I prepared some salads. Early night. Phil manages to stay in bed all night!!!!
