Feb 26 to 27 Vientiane

Vientiane is the capital of Lao and has a very exotic atmosphere due to the Lao. Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Soviet, French, and US influences. It is a very laid back town built next to the Mekong river with a nice view of Thailand. There was a night market next to the Mekong but it had cheap stuff from China. The only thing we bought was a spoon made from melted down bombs found in tiny villages left after the secret war. Ian later lost the spoon in an unfortunate laundry accident. Jen got sick and Ian went sight seeing to a monument kind of like the "Arc du triumph" in France. Ian met a local by the river named Tony and helped him practice his english for awhile. Not to much to see other than more temples with old rotting Buddha statues
