Today is the 366th day of our trip. Because it is leap year this is the day before our 1 year anniversary. WOW! Good day at Sager Brown. This is one of the very large disaster relief centers the United Methodist Church has and is one of the major outreach projects we do worldwide. Yesterday, Shirley sewed baby gowns for newborns. These are put into Layette Kits. I was on the assembly line doing the boxing of Layette kits, Health kits and School kits. There is a HUGE warehouse where all this stuff is stored for shipping when needed. There are a lot of other items that get packaged as well but these were what was needed now. What a beautiful campus. Sager Brown started as an orphanage for black children in 1868 and was turned into the UMCOR center about 20 years ago. The dorms have been upgraded and is where most of the volunteers stay. There is a cafeteria, a gym and admin buildings. The UMC Church is across the street. I would say there are about 60 volunteers here and a new group comes every week 52 weeks a year. Our evening entertainment was game night. Shirley worked on jig saw puzzles while I played Mexican Train dominoes as we had fun meeting new people. Enjoy the pics.
