|Left early to see some of this N.E. area of Poland but I had a bit of a twit on the bus to Budzisko in that we arrived at what appeared to be the border due to all the semi trucks parked and I said, "time to get off"! Lo and behold after the bus pulled away and we walked around the semis it was a gas station, truck stop! Damn! We proceeded out onto the highway(it would have been maybe 15 minutes more on the bus!) and found we got off 7 km. early!!!! Damn again! It was nice and sunny and a wide shoulder, but also another 1 1/2 hrs. hiking to finally cross the border into Lithuania only to find no real transport options until 5:15! After this bus, we arrived in Marijampole and found that the station was a ways out, so decided with the help of the bus driver who spoke English that it would be better to go on to Kaunas, the old capital city. An expensive overnite, but the first that offered a hair dryer! Plus, full kitchen...actually it was an efficiency apt. run as an adjunct to a B & B outfit, nice place and close to old town but we were tired so after a bit of a walk we returned, since to bus out to Klaidepa next day leaves as 7:55...
