We are supposed to be on the Gulf of Mexico right now.Mar 1, 2012 |

| Hazel came home from her 10 day trip to Rome and Paris, and we are supposed to be enjoying the warm weather right now at Ocean Springs, Mississippi, occupying one of those $8 a night senior rate sites at Gulf Islands National Seashore with my $10 lifetime senior National Park pass. But, Hazel had a bit of jetlag when she arrived back in Minnesota, and thought it would be nice to wait a week or so. A few days ago, I said "Ok, what do you say we hook the car to the back and take-off for the Gulf?" "Oh, didn't I tell you? Sarah (our youngest daughter) is coming home from San Francisco next week." No, she didn't tell me, and Sarah won't arrive until March 8th, here for the weekend to checkout a law school in St. Paul. In addition to approving her admission, they sent her a round-trip air ticket to come and see the school. Just how much is tuition to that school, anyway? So, here we are, all gassed-up, loaded with groceries, and ready to point the nose South, but we're still at the gate here in the farm yard. Now comes the big winter storm, the one the Twin City weathermen and women have been hoping for, with blizzard conditions to the West, rain and sleet to the South, and good old heavy wet snow where we are. It started with a few flakes on the windshield on Tuesday, and by Wednesday morning we were buried in the white stuff. Fortunately, the motorhome furnace is working perfectly, after throwing a couple hundred bucks at it last month, we have some new DVD's to watch on the flat screen, a bottle of brandy, and my Sprint wireless connection to the internet is good from here. The earliest departure date, according to the war department, is Monday, March 12th. Does anyone want to take odds on the Ides of March? |
