Last day at Top Sail

Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, United States

We leave tomorrow for a small rv park about 90 miles east on the gulf. The 4 days the Mechesney's spent with us were wonderful, lots of laughter (and wine), and excursions in this area. But the best times were when we were awed by the gulf. As I said before, whitest sand I've ever seen. And an emerald hue to the ocean. Very striking. I don't think any of our photos can do it justice.

Before I go on I must say that Top Sail State Park is a must for anyone in this area. The manicured landscaping done mostly by volunteers is most unusual for any state park. It's kept up like an expensive golf club. Anyway, if you are rv-ing ($40/night) in the area or interested in renting a cottage ($100/night) this place is the place to be.

Our high points with Hugh/Carol: visiting one of only two perfectly round lakes in the world, a tour and wine tasting at the largest vineyard in NW Florida, and the gardens and antebellum house at Eden House State park. Still a bit early for azaeleas but the magnolias are budding out and the camellias were in peak bloom. The trees here are just starting to turn the faintest of green. The weather guys said a high tomorrow of near 80. Yes, 80! (Sorry about the gloat) (No, I'm not). More beach time.
