6th February 2012

Today we head off on another bus journey to Bariloche. We left at 10.45am. The scenery was beautiful, lakes, mountains trees....We crossed the border from Chile to Argentina. It was a fairly simple process but I could see how it could get crazy. There is always something still exciting though about getting another stamp in your passport.

We arrived in the afternoon and checked into Perikos hostel. Bariloche is a much larger town than the previous two. The best thing about this town is the chocolate. I have never seen so many chocolate shops. They are like supermarkets of chocolate, every type you can imagine and every design. Obviously I had to try some. We also had the opportunity to try out steak. We went to an steak house and had a huge piece of steak. You have to share though they are 500g and come with chips and salad. So yummy. We were all practically rolling out of the restaurant. It was nice to see it all prepared in front of us though.

Today I booked to go horse back riding. I love it how they say it. We got picked up at 9.30am. The others went mountain biking but I have not been on a bike for a while so thought best stick with what I know. The place was beautiful, over a lake and surrounded by hills. The weather was a bit warmer today to. My horse was grey and very sweet. We went out for 2 hours but there was 16 people on the ride so we only walked. The saddles were so comfortable. I got to take a few pictures and it was a really pleasant experience. We had a lovely lunch, meat again, its all about the meat in Argentina, best not come if you are a vegetarian, not too much choice on the menu. The food was good though and they also do the best desserts. We did not stay to do anymore activities and were back at the hostel by 5pm. After a snooze we headed out for a couple of drinks and watched, listened, danced to a live band.

Today we went on a short bus journey 17 kilometres to a viewpoint. We went up in the cable car and the views were stunning. It was very mystical. A real photographic opportunity and then we headed back down and into town for a late lunch and shop. Spent the evening in the hostel packing up our bags which is always a trauma.
