From Seoul to Helsinki in 30 days! travel blog

Hello All!

I know the pictures are a little late, but these are from the place I stayed in Seoul. They were from the Seoul Guesthouse Website, so imagine construction, rain, and no pavement, and you have where I stayed. But it was cute, and the lady who ran it was nice, so I can't complain too much.

Anyway, I thought I would take this time to describe the appartment I'm staying in now. Erin arrived in Vladivostok on the 4th of July (the 3rd in the states), so, the things I had trouble putting my finger on about the appartment, she has been able to identify nicely.

1. The Appartment Building: It's an older brick building with about 9 floors. I'm not sure if we're in a good neighborhood or not, but Erin and I have our "Tough Russian Face" for when we see questionable persons. I couldn't exactly place the smell as I walked into our appartment building, but Erin nailed it right on the head; pee and mold. It's delightful.

2. The Elevator: Have you ever stepped into an elevator that jolts a little when you get in? Well, this elevator jolts alot. The lights get dimmer when the doors close, and some one was nice enough to write, "Mother F$#@&*, on the wall with a sharpie. I told Erin the elevator reminded me of the Tower of Terror, without the charming Art Deco style.

3. The Bathroom: For the most part, our actual appartment is pretty cute in a wacky Russian kind of way. But the toilet deserves special attention. We call it the "Rocking Toilet", because when you sit down, it rocks way forward or backward. It's really just like a ride in Disneyland.

This is not to make the whole place sound bad, because it really isn't. With a little loving care it would actually be quite charming. I just wish I had Trading Spaces around so that I could redo the place! So hopefully I will find a way to get pictures of this place on here soon.

So, next time: the river rapids we like to call streets and sidewalks!
