From Riverside Retreat in Alva, FL …

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Yesterday we left WP Franklin and drove 10 miles down the road to Riverside Retreat. This is the Methodist campground where we stayed one night a couple weeks ago.

We parked Ali’s Cat in a long pull through site. There are three rows of campsites here. The row in the middle is all pull throughs, and the two rows on the sides are back ins. The back in sites have more room between them, but it appears that they are mostly assigned to people staying for several weeks. Our pull through site is pretty tight, but it’s fine for only a night or two.

After getting parked, we washed the RV and Charlie checked the pressure on all the tires. Then we got cleaned up and drove to Pine Island. It was another beautiful afternoon with a nice breeze, and we enjoyed a great mid day meal outside on the deck at the Waterfront Restaurant.

Today (Thursday) we decided to take it easy and explore what Riverside Retreat had to offer. Even though the campground is nothing fancy, it’s actually a very nice facility. There is a large swimming pool, nature trails, volleyball, and laundry.

We rode our bikes all through the property and walked on the nature trail. Then I did some laundry.

Tonight we drove into Fort Myers and had dinner at the Fire Pit City Grill at Gulf Coast Town Center. We were not very impressed with the food. Then we shopped at Jo-Ann Fabrics and the Super Target before coming back home.

Tomorrow we will go back to Ortona Lock for another two weeks, and we’re looking forward to it! We still enjoy the variety of changing locations every couple of weeks.
