From WP Franklin Lock Campground in Alva, FL …

Yesterday was a “maintenance day” around here. Charlie dumped the tanks, and I had to defrost the fridge/freezer. I also cleaned everything inside the house.
We still had plenty of time to get some exercise and relax outside enjoying the beautiful weather. We really enjoy our time here. There is just so much to do. And the bird watching is really good here. We love staying at Ortona, but the birding here is much better. We have also seen two alligators here on the river this year that we haven’t seen before.
A couple days ago did some hiking at the Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park just a few miles from our campground on S.R. 78. This is a really nice park with several well marked trails, fishing pier, picnic area, and a place to launch canoes and kayaks on the creek. We did about a 2 ½ mile hike and had a really good time.
Today we cleaned the front portion of Ali’s Cat. Tomorrow our two weeks will be up here, and we will move over to Riverside Retreat, the Methodist campground for two nights. Then on Friday we will drive back to Ortona Lock for another couple of weeks.
The weather continues to be incredible but more “late spring-like” than winter with highs in the 80s. We have some showers in the forecast for every day this week, and they surely need the rain down here. It’s also good to rinse some dust off of the vehicles and the RV. : )
Well, it’s On the Road Again tomorrow although we don’t have to drive far. We are hoping to wash the fifth wheel when we get to Riverside Retreat as they allow you to do that there. Then we may drive to Pine Island for lunch or dinner later on.
