Val and Steve's Emirates Adventure travel blog

Came to Abu Dhabi today and are staying at the Yas Viceroy Hotel on the Grand Prix Circuit. Our Christmas present to ourselves. Room is great but we had a bit of confusion. We booked the hotel as a treat after visiting it last time we were here and seeing people sitting outside on balconies overlooking the marina and F1 circuit so we thought it would be nice to sit out with a brew or a tipple but when we got to the room, the door to the balcony was locked and a label said it was closed because of health and safety!!!Rubbish!! Steve reckoned they were broken. Anyway, we went downstairs and asked for one that had a working door so we duly moved and then discovered that the second room door didn't open either. On our way down to dinner we asked again and a man said he would look into it for us. Off we went into Abu Dhabi back to the Nasr Grill which we loved and you get a huge meal for £10 and end up bringing half of it home in a doggy bag!! We are going to take Sue and Dave there. When we returned to the hotel, the man said he hadn't found one but would personally go and check rooms that did have working balcony doors so we went up to the bar and had a drink. Lovely rooftop bar with amazing patio heaters but two drinks cost more than our meal and drinks at the Nasr Grill!!!! When we went back down, he had got us another room so 3rd time lucky and we sat with a glass of wine on the balcony. Good day and good to be back here.

Off to the mosque tomorrow - 2nd largest in the world with Mecca being the largest.
