I've just started our blog again. I thought it would give me a chance to post a few pictures from cold CT, holiday family pics, etc. Also, Santa brought Mike and I an early present--a new digital camera. Our old Sony was great, but somehow it acquired a black dot on the inside of the lens. Even Mike can't take it apart to fix it; and to have that done would probably cost almost as much as a new camera. The Sony was about ten years old, and not waterproof. Since we spend so much time in and around water--best to upgrade. So this early blogging will give me a chance to experiment with the new Panasonic DMCTS3.
Mike has the boat all ready to go. He's installed some fancy new "homemade accessory" holders at each chair on the Ranger. I've told him that he could mass produce those and make $$. They're quite clever, having slots for lures, pliers, etc. with a cup holder on top. The trailer wheels have been completely overhauled, as Mike saw that one was leaking oil from its hub, so now it has new seals, etc. Great to have such a fastidious attitude--no one wants trouble on the road. This summer, the Ranger's Yamaha motor had a piston failure; and getting service in the middle of the summer was not that easy. Our local, trusted repair guy was so busy, that it took more than a month to get the parts and for him to find time to do the repair. Again, would not have wanted that to happen in FL, where there is a bass boat in every yard and where we don't know the repair people. Oh well, engine is rebuilt and hopefully will have no further problems.
We have our Christmas tree and lighted village up, along with lights on the house and shrubbery. That will be quite enough to remove before we leave on December 30. Our wonderful neighbors will be looking after our house, with my sister Joan watching Mr. Stripes.
We will be staying at North Lakes RV Park and Resort in Moore Haven, FL (Lake Okeechobee) again, and we're looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful people we've met there. This will be the year for the 10 lb. bass, right??
Mike had a good fishing experience in Mansfield Hollow this year. He and his "Sunday night date," Bob Rose, had wonderful luck fishing for Northern Pike. The largest one they got, Bob's, was 42", 20 lbs. 4 oz., and he's having it mounted. Bob called me from the boat that evening, and they sounded like two 15-year-olds! They were so excited to have had such luck. They had several more nights like that--but not with a fish that large--and then the pike seemed to get wise to them. Oh well, next year ......
