Today was another 12 hour day, and I have yet another long day tomorrow. I'll be heading to Cozumel for the day. They will pick me up at 7:00 a.m. Why I scheduled 2 long tours back to back is beyond me. What was I thinking...? I rescheduled my short tour on Thursday to Sunday, but depending upon how I feel when I get back tomorrow, I might scratch Sunday's tour and get some rest. I'll probably lose the money that I paid for it, it was less than $50, so I won't cry over it too much.
Now let's talk about Tulum and Coba a bit. These sites are far from Cancun as well. I guess they all are. If I understood the guide correctly, who by the way spoke very poor english, Tulum is the oldest Mayan city. The site is small and there are not many ruins there to see. It is also off the water, so you can go swimming there. As for Coba, there are a few ruins there, the big attraction being the partial pyramid that the public is allowed to climb. Did I climb it? No...I did not. With both Tulum and Coba, from the entrance you have to walk quite a ways to get to the site. For Coba, the walk is almost 2 miles...seriously. The good thing is that they have guys who will shuttle you to the site on a giant tricycle for 100 pesos r/t for 2 people, and seem to be most appreciative if you give them $2 or $3 USD. I met a very nice couple from North Carolina, Cathy and Tom, and a female doctor from Russia on this tour. I was dropped off at the hotel right around 7:00 p.m. I fixed dinner, checked emails and voicemails, and got my things ready for tomorrow's tour, in about 1/2 hour, I will be in bed. Attached are pics from today's tours. Enjoy, and stay tuned for Cozumel pics tomorrow or Sunday.
