Today is Thanksgiving Day. And I get to spend it in paradise. How very very happy I am. And still so very grateful to be able to be where I'm at at this very moment in time.

I start out for a walk on the esplanade and stop for a juice at EGO, where they have wifi. I post a beach picture to Facebook, just because it doesn't seem fair to keep this all to myself, it needs shared.

Finally decide on a piece of perfect beach, and into the water I go again!!

Met several people today from all over, one from France, 2 from Sydney, 2 from Switzerland, one Dutch lady, and one dude from Spain who was trippin on mushrooms.

I take a break to grab a burger, and right afterwards back into the water I went. I couldn't even make myself get out of the water to go get a snorkle or goggles. All the way until the sun went away on this far side of the island. Then went and showered and got dressed to go see the sun set on the other side of the island, I hear it's spectacular. The boys offered to take me up to the hill to see it but that sounds like too much effort for today. So I walk the path around the southeast part of the island towards the west side. Couples, and groups of people pass me as I mosey my way along, but I'm in my own world. Something grabs my eye and I wander off the path, walking thru some trees until I come upon the beach. Sigh. I really do love the water. I stand and stare in wonder for a while, just not able to get enough. Then realize how low the sun is getting I decide to walk along the beach till I get to the other side. Gosh it's gorgeous. So very very perfect. I can't even describe it. Several people have downplayed it as 'just another sunset' and yeah, it was just another another sunset, but to me it was downright awesome.

Tonight the boys are goin to play guitar and sing on the beach again, and I'm invited. I feel so flattered and honored to be allowed to be a part of them. I've decided that tonight is on me and I sent one of the boys with some of the little money I have left to go get the rice wine from the village in Lombok. We hang out with the turtles at the conservatory, and after a while I get ansy, knowing this is my last night at this amazing place. So I get up and go for a walk along the water. I can still hear the boys, I don't wanna go too far. When I turn to go back I find that there were at least 4 couples in the dark that had wandered out to the beach to sit and listen to my boys playing the guitar and singing. Makes me smile. Jack warned me to be careful while walking, "just in case" and had his best friend Z walk with me and "protect" me. We stopped at some chairs and gazebos and Z told me this is his "home" where he usually sleeps at night. Dig a little deeper and find that he is from Lombok like most of the other boys, and that he lives on the island to work as a waiter/busboy to be able to send money home to his family. He told me about how that he had hurt his back and wondered if there was any way to fix him and amke him ok again. Told him I wouldn't be able to help him with just one session, and suggested he go see Gabby, he said he thinks she is expensive and he doesn't have the money. I told him perhaps she needs help with something you could do for her, like garden work, or building. I wonder how things will end for him. His story was sad, but simple, and told without accusation or regret. It was what it was. I wish I wasn't so sleepy, I coulda paid more attention to his story, but part of me thinks since I thought it was sad I wanted to block it out. So I said goodnight, and left to go to my room, wishing instead that I had a light blanket so I could just sleep out on the beach like Z.

Happy Thanksgiving Day indeed...
