Today I had lunch with Malia Lane at Casa Garcia. That was my first time to eat there. It was good, so I'm glad we went there. Malia has returned to Austin for the winter after a long trip to Michigan. She certainly whetted my appetite to visit that area. Not that my itchy feet need much encouragement to hit the road again! :>)

Tonight I attended the “Heaven’s Light” women’s Christmas dinner at church. We were seated eight to a table. Each table was decorated by someone at that table. My group’s table was done by Linda Seelke using her own decorations, dishes and silverware. The silverware was from the set she had used as a child, so it had a special meaning. As always, she did a wonderful job.

Our meal was buffet style and our waiters were men from our church. They served our drinks and desserts and bussed the tables. None of them are waiters by profession but they all did a good job. Our waiter, Bill, wore a handsome red vest. The musical program was presented by various women from the church. Four of the songs were new to me. The one that I thought was the most beautiful was “Cradle in Bethlehem” sung by Stephanie Husk. She has a lovely soprano voice. I especially enjoyed Yoshiko Frankenberger’s performance of “Lo, How A Rose E’re Blooming” on the marimba.

It started raining during the night and has sprinkled off an on all day. It hasn't ended our drought but it certainly is helping. I'm thankful for any moisture that we get.
