Yes, I do believe we are in cowboy country. We are now parked at Caballo Lake RV Park and it's exactly what I expected. The park and the grounds are well manicured with large sites and you can pick the one you want when you arrive. The gal that runs the place has a "happy hour" every day, first day she served stuffed jalapenos, all we needed was to bring something to drink. She says it's her social time to get to know the people staying at the park.

Our house sitters arrived and we departed for our 4 month adventure about 10AM and drove 4 hours south and were set up by dinner time, except our TV, more on that later.

To the east of the park is Caballo Lake with the Caballo Mountains in the background. It makes for a great scenic view from the park. The mountains were named by the Spanish conquistadors when they were blazing the El Camino Reale, translated it means Mountains of the Horse.

Yesterday we drove north 15 miles to the town of Truth or Consequences. Yes, it's name came from Ralph Edwards, producer of the radio game show. The original name was Hot Springs, New Mexico and was named for, yes you guessed it, hot springs. It may have not been the original name as the ancient ones have gathered around the hot mineral water baths for millenia but it must have been something very similar to "hot springs". Judy and I plan to take a soak at the outdoor baths at Riverbend Hot Springs Resort & Spa. It sits right on the banks of the Rio Grande River, the baths are so close I could spit in the river.

OK, I talked about soaking in the hot baths but it will be another day as right now as I type it's snowing. If you've been watching the weather in the Southwest on TV you know we've been going through some very windy weather with snow and very cold weather forecast. One good thing about the southwest is if you wait the weather will change back to the big blue sky with the warm sunshine. OK, it's time to change.....

In the start of the entry I mentioned about our TV not working. I put up our Direct TV dish and couldn't get programing because I forgot to bring the remote control. I ended up borrowing our neighbors remote control long enough to get the programing set. Now I have to get up from our Lazyboy every time I want to change the channel. It's a good thing I'm planning a trip back home to pick up the mail and this time I'll remember the remote control along with with other stuff we forgot to bring.

Oh, the title today refers to the radio station that is strong here that's from El Paso, Texas. If I can't listen to oldies from the 60's or 70's I'd rather listen to the cowboy, country western songs of today. Like I said, Hee Haw, we're in Cowboy Country.
