The expat community in Cuenca is growing. Soon I fear there'll be an American Legion post and a humane society forming. In the meantime, my friend Mark Raderstorf organized the First Annual Cuenca Turkey Trot, a race for 2+ miles along Rio Tomebamba in Cuenca. It was a great way to start to celebrate Thanksgiving so far from home.

The $3 entry fees went to a good cause, Fundacion El Arenal, an after-school program for at-risk kids who work long hours beside their parents at Feria Libre the largest produce and meat market in town. After the walk/run, we finished at Kookaburra Cafe for beers, coffee, and breakfast.

This afternoon Barbie DiPalma and John Vitale hosted a delicious turkey dinner at their condo.
