|What a fine day we had today!
Marilyn & I shared a pot of coffee with the fireplace on this morning. It was chilly last night and the fireplace made it nice and toasty inside.
The clear sky and bright sunshine promised a pleasant day for our planned swamp tour and we all looked forward to that. Well, maybe with the one exception being Teresa. LOL
She was a good sport and was determined not to miss out on the fun so we all took off at 10:00 this morning.
It took about one hour to drive to Lake Martin where we met Brian Champagne for the tour.
The History Channel was flying a crew in to film a documentary on the things you don’t see in the swamp so Brian had a lot on his agenda today, but he gave us a fine tour.
With the cool temperature and low water level, the boat struggled through the water in some places and we saw only three gators all day. That suited Teresa just fine though, and we all had a nice time.
By 1:30 we were on our way back to Abbeville.
We stopped at the restaurant called “Riverfront” where we sat outdoors on the deck soaking up some sunshine and enjoying some very delicious food, along with a frozen margarita.
Once again we were stuffed when we waddled away from the table.
We made a quick stop at another place to pick up some “Sweet Treat”. That is a sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla concoction that you sprinkle on anything like toast, grilled fruit, etc.
By the time we arrived back at Betty’s, it was time for happy hour but Marilyn & I fell asleep in the recliners and missed the whole thing.
We are driving to Beaumont, Texas, tomorrow where we’ll spend one night, and then we’ll head for Llano Grande, hoping to arrive about 2:30 on Sunday afternoon.
It will sure be nice to get all set up, get the RV and truck clean again, and settle in for the winter.
There will be lots of fun to be had in the warm Texas winter.
