A cold front moved through during the night and the 85 degree weather we had yesterday was long gone.
When we awoke this morning, the sky was overcast, the wind was blowing and the temperatures were forecast to climb only into the low 60’s. Quite a difference!
Bob & I drove our trucks to the nearest filling station and fueled up for our journey today.
We left the park at 8:55 AM and drove the first 45 minutes in fairly heavy traffic, before it thinned out. I wish I could say that the roads were smooth today but they were pretty rough. It reminded me of Oklahoma, where the roads are uniformly poor.
Marilyn & I led the caravan with Bob & Janet behind us and then Trent & Teresa following Bob & Janet.
We arrived at Betty’s RV Park in Abbeville a few minutes before 12 noon and were soon set up in our respective sites.
Once all three of us were established enough to go have some lunch, we drove to one of our favorite places to eat Cajun food.
Suires has the best Cajun food we have found anywhere and we all enjoyed our meals.
Let’s see, we ate shrimp gumbo, crayfish etouffee, fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried catfish, crab cakes, shrimp cakes, potato salad, French fries, and pineapple cake. Needless to say, we left the place absolutely stuffed!
Back at Betty’s we relaxed, just resting and digesting the good food, until happy hour began at 4:30.
Tomorrow we have planned a swamp tour. More fun!
