We wake up early to go fishing. It is brisk. We dress warmly. We meet our captain at the marina. It is going to be windy. Even with the weather report, we decide to fish.
The trip down the river is cold. I see nothing as I huddle behind the console. I am glad I brought my winter hat and gloves.
The captain stops the boat to tell us it is going to be a little rough crossing the sound. “If I fall overboard, I’ll give a yell,” says John.
The captain turns to me and says, “At that time, we head for home. Mission accomplished. Right?” I like this captain!
We get to our fishing spot. John immediately catches a red fish. I find a school of speckled trout. I also find a very determined sea gull that keeps trying to steal my shrimp! Unfortunately, that is it. It gets very windy!
We head back to an area where we can get some protection from the wind. John fishes but there is no catching. I take many pictures. It is good to get out on the water even if the weather does not cooperate.
For lunch, we drive to St. Simons. We are back at Mick’s in time to greet our friend, Merv, and his daughter when they arrive from Ocala. We unload Merv’s truck and have a great dinner together.
It has been a long day. We are ready for some sleep early!
