We saw a lot of deer crossing the road

We also saw a lot of marmots..

Last one...back home!

We got up to about one inch of snow this morning. We were hoping for more. We managed to make a tiny snowman at least. It lasted about 30 minutes on our way to do some shopping at Walmart in Canon City.

After the shopping Betty got her hair trimmed and I got a much needed haircut. The lady doing our hair was a long time local. She told us about a cool castle nearby that was a must see.

The castle was about a 40 mile drive through beautiful mountains covered with snow. We saw a lot of frozen ponds and streams, deer crossing the road and a ton of marmots.

The castle was outstanding. Construction of the castle began in 1969, when Bishop began construction on a family cottage which he decided to surround with rocks. Several neighbors noted that the structure looked something like a castle. Bishop took this into consideration and soon began building his castle. He bought the land when he was fifteen for a price of $1,250.

He is still working on the castle on weekends. It is open to the public for free.

Jerry was brave enough to walk through all the snow and view it close up. Betty and I watched and played in the snow. :-) Another great day in beautiful Colorado.
