Nova Scotia 2011 Trip travel blog

We are spending our last night on the road for this trip in the Flag City RV Park in Lodi, California. We are no about 65 miles from home and we are spending this last day getting the motorhome cleaned on the inside, emptying the holding tanks, and doing the final laundry before we get home.

We will leave tomorrow around 1000 and that should allow us to miss the morning rush across the Altamont Pass and the school dismissal around 1430. This will all us parking the RV next to house without having to dodge heavy traffic on Pine Valley as we back the rig into it's parking space.

Reno traffic was surprisingly light which was very welcome indeed. Traffic over Donner Summit was light but there is a lot of construction from the Summit all the way down the hill to just below Gold Run. The road surfaces in California have improved significantly from the border to just below Auburn but from there on it is much the same with some areas that have recently been re-surfaced.

There is a good deal of road construction on I-5 south of Sacramento to just below Elk Grove. Hopefully before the beginning of the next century California will be able to fix it's deteriorated roads. Of course by then it would matter not one twit what road conditions are like as we will be looking up at the grass roots by then.

Tomorrow we will publish the final journal entry for this trip and we will include a summary of the trip in miles, gallons, average speed, etc.

So that is all for today.
