|Sidney, Nebraska to Lamar, Colorado (252 miles)
Lamar, Colorado to Raton, New Mexico (158 miles)
Its that time of year where we wanted to avoid the possibility of snow and ice as much as possible, so we tried to avoid most of the Rockies. We stayed in Lamar, Colorado two nights and stayed home for most of the time. We hit a grocery store, filled up with fuel, and organized our living quarters a bit. From a photography stand-point, the camera got a complete rest. After a tough climb up to 7200 feet, we arrived in Raton. Actually, Raton is down the hill from us by 4 exits, we are situated on a hill top overlooking the valley where Raton rests. This will be home for 5 days.
P.S. We try to stay ahead when we are posting our blogs. I have about three posts ready to publish, and those posts we file in our 'Future Posts" file. This way we can take two or three days and do nothing, and still have a posting for you to read everyday. This is one of those days.
