and Funny Cars

No rest for the weary, when it comes to my Sister Cindy!! We had a full weekend planned once we arrived. This morning it was up early for the farmer's market, but only after we went to the Sorghum Parade in town and then to the full Festival at the local park. All in all it was a great time! Where else can you see John Deere Tractors on Parade with antique cars (You know, the ones from the 1950's!) and hear blue grass music and instead of throwing candy or beads, they hand out Bibles! Only in the deepest South! LOVE THIS AREA~~~

We had a great time, watching Sorghum being made, seeing bowls being shaped from wood and clay being made into dishes. We saw chain saw art, crafts and soap being made. Also got a chance to taste "Moonshine Jelly", home made canned goods and lots of candles and wood products. There were raffles to be won, food to be eaten, and prizes to vie for.

After the obiligatory trip down all the booths, we drove on over to the local Farmer's Market. What an experience. I got the coolest Pumpkin Stack Wood Art Statue. 5 pumpkins on top of each other with a top hat on top! Just something for fun and decoration. He looks great in front of the fireplace with my other Autumn Decorations. Kind of cozy here, with leave changing outside and the fall colors inside. I found some great fresh canned Green Tomato Pickles, some spicy-hot Kimchi and a few fresh vegetables at the market. Cindy got us all a "potato baking bag". Something the Amish make to bake your potatoes in. I haven't tried mine yet, but you bet I will be doing so before I go home in case I need to pick up some last minute gifts for Christmas.

After a great dinner at Cindy and Mike's, I spent the evening getting ready for Donna and Steve's arrival tomorrow. They left today around 2:30 but they got a bit further than we did on Thursday. Given their location and that they are not pulling a trailer, they should be in by early afternoon, tomorrow. Can't wait to see them, even though I see them almost every week.

It will be fun exploring with my two sisters and their husbands.

Love, for now. Barb and Howard
