Yet Another RV Resort

Today was another travel day. We started out under dark, overcast skies which looked ominous in the distance, but we were heading the other way, thankfully. As we turned west, we saw a beautiful rainbow and I got my camera out. As I was about to shoot the picture, lightning flashed right next to it. Darn it!! What a great picture that would have been. We had a bit of rain which we know is very welcome here in Texas, but soon it stopped and we have had cloudy skies for the rest of the day.

We continued travel on Hwy 79 diagonally which is a good enough road with light truck traffic. Most of the way today was only two lanes and John frets when trucks and cars line up behind him, so it was a little more stressful. But we only had to go 125 miles today, so it passed quickly. The countryside was very pretty with hills and lots of grass and trees. It always surprises me that Texas is so pretty, at least this part is. The further west we got, the dryer the countryside looked and we saw cattle with bails of hay in their fields.

Tonight we are staying at the Rockdale RV Resort . . . not just an RV PARK but a RESORT. We chose Rockdale as a stopping point because it is where Hwy 79 intersects with Hwy 77 south and we will head south to Seguin tomorrow. There is hardly anything else in Rockdale and I am afraid this RV Resort has seen better days . . . perhaps when it was brand new. Most of the pull thru sites look as though no one has been in them for years. There are no tire tracks, just weeds. BUT, we have cable tv with HBO and Showtime and we have WiFi, all for $25!!!! John just got back from the showers and said they were very nice.

The outside temp gauge shows 140 degrees but it is in full sunshine. It is very hot (probably in low 90's) and very humid. Another afternoon enjoying cable and AC. The kids are in their favorite places all stretched out for naps. Life is good.
