Today was a rather lazy day; we met Skipper and Carolyn for the brunch buffet about 10:00 a.m. We talked about going back to the boardwalk to check out some of the other casinos, but decided to stay here at Harrah's in order to watch the Texans game at 1:00 p.m. After brunch, we each went our separate ways, some in search of a friendly game and Lady Luck and others to their rooms to read and relax for awhile.

I took a stroll out to the pool area and checked out some of the shops scattered throughout the casino hallways; saw some interesting things but resisted the urge to buy anything. There were a few people relaxing around the pool but no one actually in the pool, so it was quiet. It's a beautiful area, lots of greenery, plants, and small cabanas that you can rent.

More about the boardwalk: I forgot to mention in yesterday's post that the boardwalk was originally proposed and the first section built in 1870 and the original purpose of the boardwalk was to keep the sand (from the beach) out of the ritzy beachfront hotels and the railway passenger cars. It was originally taken up in the winter and put back in place in the summer. Over the years it has been expanded and today it's six miles long. Just a little bit of history for you just in case you wondered.

Tomorrow, we'll drive to Philadelphia, PA and do some sightseeing before leaving Skipper and Carolyn at their hotel; they have an early flight back to Texas Tuesday morning. It's been a fun week of gambling, eating, sightseeing and visiting.

We ate dinner in the Diamond Club tonight as guests of Skipper and Carolyn and the food was delicious; we had shrimp cocktails, talipia, green beans, noodles and salad bar as well as dessert bar. Yummy! I think everyone has had their fill of gambling for this trip; I didn't hear anyone in our group bragging about any big wins in the casinos, but it has been fun.

Take care and stay in touch ... Cheers!
