|So, our final destination, Koh Phan Ngan.
We took a bus from Phuket to get to Donsak, where we caught a ferry. The bus journey was nice, and flat! The scenery was dotted with giant karsts. At the beginning of our trip we were looking at these karst in awe, so big. But now they seem the ordinary. How easy it is for people to not appreciate their surroundings, when in just 6 months the amazing becomes normal.
The ferry was quite long, 3 hours, and not exactly plush. We got to the island around 6pm, and to our bungalow by around 7pm. We had booked into a sea front bungalow in a place with a pool, which was right on our doorstep. And we really were right on the beach. It was nice that we had saved our money, and we went out to watch the football and have a lovely curry for dinner. We sat on our balcony looking at the sea before bed.
The next day was the day of the Full Moon Party. Every month thousands of people go to the island for the parties, where there is music and stalls along the beach. There was a great vibe in town when we went for lunch, and everyone was getting prepaired. We bought some Thai Whiskey for drinks before and headed back to spend the day by the pool. Very relaxing. It started to rain in the evening, and so we got ready and sat on the balcony having a drink unti it stopped. It got so late though that we had to get out in the rain and headed to town. We met up with lots of people also going to the party, and all painted our faces and bodies in neon glowing paint. Near midnight we all bundled into a taxi and headed to the party. At midnight everyone sang happy birthday to Kat for her 30th Birthday! A great way to start it. The party was amazing, massive stages to dance on, so many people, big fire signs. We got onto the dancefloor straight away and were definatly in the party mood. It was a great night, and we didn't end up leaving until 5am!
Later that day after some sleep we headed out for a nice birthday lunch for Kat. Lots of lovely thai curry, and plenty of G&T's were had. We spent the evening on the balcony with a few drinks again playing cards and enjoying the show the thunder and lightening was making!
It was our last day by the beach the next day, and we spent it sunbathing all day. A small walk to a sandbar was our only real effort, we really made the most of the day knowing it was our last for relaxing. We packed in the evening ready to start the trip home in the morning.
