From Mohegan Sun parking lot -
Thursday, October 06, 2011 - We met Skipper and Carolyn for breakfast in Tuscany Restaurant before leaving Mohegan Sun bound for Atlantic City, NJ. Skipper and Carolyn joined us in the motorhome for the 250 mile drive to Atlantic City where we both have rooms at Harrah's Casino/Hotel. We'll park the motorhome in their extra parking lot and stay in the hotel; after three weeks on the road, a full size bath will be such a luxery!
The drive took us almost six hours and the roads were horrible, HORRIBLE, the worst we've ever traveled on! The clothes hangers (with our clothes on them) actually bounced off the rods in the closets. The kitchen drawers were bouncing open and I was jumping up and down to try to keep them closed; terrible road conditions!!! I was exhausted by the time we arrived in Atlantic City and Carolyn must think we're crazy to travel like this! But truly, we've never experienced such road conditions.
Skipper sat up front with Tommy and was the co-pilot on this leg of the journey. We had two GPS devises connected and I was trying to interpret as well, so Skipper didn't get a word in at all. I think he was afraid to say anything and I don't blame him! We arrived and got settled and headed for the casino and food. We enjoyed dinner at one of the burger bars before getting down to the serious business of an evening of gambling.
Most people don't realize that gambling is difficult and stressful work! Some of us turned in early and some of us stayed out a little later. I had a good evening of gambling ... turned a nice profit ... I think I'll rest for the next day or so ... I have bragging rights for tomorrow morning!
Friday, October 07, 2011 = We met Skipper and Carolyn at Reflections Cafe for breakfast this morning and then took a drive over to the Atlantic City Boardwalk and visited a few of the casinos along the way. Didn't have much luck there, but it was fun to check them out anyway. The boardwalk has a personality all it's own; a cornicopia of people along with the rickshaw buggies that beg you to hop in and take a ride, although we resisted and walked instead of riding.
We made our way back to Harrah's Hotel; I took a four hour nap and Tommy read a book. Skipper and Carolyn visited the Diamond Club and had a light dinner there and Tommy and I popped in to a small mexican restaurant for a delicious margarita and some tacos before heading back to the casino in search of a friendly game. Tommy found the tables and I came up to the room to catch up on correspondance and the blog. It's been a fun day and week! And tomorrow is waiting for us with a full day of adventure!
Take care, stay in touch ... Cheers!
