South America here we come!!!
Well central america is over, reflecting (lol) on the last 3 weeks I couldnt be happier with the beginning of my travels. Although I am missing my family and friends, we have had a positive start to our travels and hoping it continues:)
During the last 3 weeks we have at times came across a wee bit of travel snobbery with people indirectly hinting that we have had a short trip and that they have spent 3/4 weeks in the one area immersing themselves in the culture etc etc blah blah blah...sorry what were you saying!!!
I feel that although we have only had 3 weeks and yes in an ideal world more time would have been nice, we have made every effort to get right in about it... From eating tacos with some sort of meat in them!!.. Eating local food and not opting for American breakfasts!!!..getting local buses when we can.. To trying our hardest to speak spanish...and at times we have suceeded and other times they have looked at us as if we were from another planet... but that's been done before lol so it's old news:)
I'm excited about bogota and what we will find there, despite the " your going where"... It has good reports from other travellers and also our new bible ( lonely plant south America). I am also excited about south America, again after months of research we are going to visit the places we have been reading about!!!
So to finish off central America... Here is a wee list of my highlights so far
1) the feeling of pure and utter terror/excitement boarding the plane to Guatemala
2) making it to the top of cerro de la cruz in Antigua...alive
3) the amazing views and scenery I have saw on the bus trips, sure beats the x1 into town
4) although my neck killing me, when i fell on the wet tiles and Alice fell in to me trying to help me up... Sober!!!!
