Drove up to Frankenmuth today. It is a little Bavarian town about 45 minutes away. About a dozen Lutheran Bavarians came there in the mid 1800's and founded the city. They have 2 popular restaurants in town, both have "World Famous Chicken", the Bavarian Inn and Zehnders. Cheryl got sauerbraten and I got a combo with the chicken, sauerbraten and schnitzel. Wow, the chicken was really good (light deep fry and very tender and tasty), but we both appreciated getting the German food too. I also enjoyed the Hofbrau beer with the meal so much I had two 22 ouncers (I think I've gained several pounds on this trip). We then walked the town and bought some sausage and some craft beer. Then we went to the worlds largest Christmas store (Bronner's). Spent about an hour walking thru it to see everything you could imagine for Christmas - ornaments and other related paraphernalia, but didn't buy anything. Boy the drivers are real fast here. The speed limit is 70 mph on the freeways, but if you do 70, you better be in the slow lane. I would say they average 80 mph on the freeway's. They didn't even slow down much in the 60 mph construction zone in Flint. John (Cheryl's cousin) says they even drive like that in the winter when it snows.
