On day 2 in Paris, we went straight to the Cite des Sciences which has a large Cite des Enfants exhibit especially for kids. This is a very large science and industry museum on the northeast edge of the city. It is perhaps not a typical "Paris in two days" destination, but we knew that Carmen in particular was not going to be overly thrilled by a lot more lines to look at stuff she couldn't touch and this ended up being the perfect antidote. The girls had a great time in each of the exhibit areas and it was not at all crowded. All the cool exhibits actually worked - the TV studio made video recordings, the learn-to-write in Chinese touchscreen responded to their touch, the sprint timer showed them how fast they dashed across the exhibit floor. Despite being completely exhausted from the day before, the girls loved it.
After fun with science, we headed to Notre Dame Cathedral where we happily met up with the Walkers again for the afternoon. After checking out the cathedral from the outside, we took a boat ride on La Seine. The weather was bright and sunny and it was fun seeing the city from the river vantage.
We really enjoyed seeing Paris with the Walkers and I know the girls were very happy to see their good friends. The Saturday night TGV home was almost empty and very fast - what a great way to travel.
