Living our RV Dream! travel blog

Well we are down to one day left before our grand adventure!!

Having morning coffee this morning I sat checking my emails. I had many emails from my sister, Carolyn (Cal) and brother-in-law Sheldon who have both done so much leg work for us ... making dinner reservations at restaurants etc. Gosh we can’t wait to see them on Friday!!

Today we unpacked everything we had packed originally, checked and double checked that we had everything and completed the packing .... yay!!!! After we have offloaded all our gifts to the family we will have plenty of space to bring back “goodies” from South Africa. Our weight limit is 50# per suitcase. Tony’s almost weighs the max and mine actually weighs 45# ...... yay .... that means I can shop some more tomorrow ...wink, wink!

Tony’s backpack is sooooper heavy. He is carrying my computer, 3 camera’s and large lens and 2 pairs of binoculars. He is also planning on wearing his heaviest clothing items .... jeans, athletic shoes and leather jacket.

Tony was also going to take his Nook but has changed his mind at the last minute. He’ll take a paperback for the long flight and then plans to buy a couple of books on Africa while we are in Cape Town. He has a few favorite authors who write fiction around the African bush lifestyle ... which he loves. I think I will leave my books home, read magazines on the flights and then do the same as Tony .... get something on Africa when I arrive there.

This evening Lisa and Alessi came over for dinner. Angelo had left on another trip, this time to Texas. Lisa and I shared the kitchen and made a wonderful shrimp and pasta dinner, while Tony was more than happy to eat the leftover curry from last night.

We spoke to both Candice and Tania, saying all our goodbyes and organizing our stay in Melbourne when we get back from our trip. The drive from Oklahoma to Florida is going to be a huge test for me and misery for both of us as we are going to be dealing with severe jetlag. Ugh, I hate to even think about it. We just keep happy thoughts of our wonderful adventure at hand and all the fun we are going to have with friends and family..... and forget about that yucky trip.

Tomorrow is our final day here. We have all the last minute things to do around the rig. We will pack away the lawn chairs and grill, take the plants and all Gucci’s “stuff” to Lisa. I also have to pick up meds from CVS that our Dr in Tampa has called through and then we’ll bathe Gucci, set up payment of the couple of November bills and put on hold our Verizon Air Card which we will not be using for 6 weeks.

Our children plan on coming to stay in our rig for a weekend while we are away, plus Lisa will also come over every 2nd day and check that everything is good. So we have peace of mind.

For those of you who have not yet done so, I would suggest that you click on “Request Updates” at the top right hand corner of our blog homepage. This will then notify you when we have posted, because obviously we will not be posting very regularly during the vacation. I would also ask that you request this as soon as possible (by Thursday morning) so that we can acknowledge you for it to be confirmed and take place. After Thursday as I have mentioned ... posting will be sporadic, although we will obviously try and post as often as we possibly can.

Yippee .... we are getting sooo excited to be seeing our friends soon - what a trip of a lifetime this is going to be!!
