Vienna, our last stop in Central Europe, has a long and interesting history. Just 40 miles from Bratislava - Vienna could not be more different. Inside the city ring, imposing buildings and large manicured parks make it a great walking city. At each turn, it feels like we run into another magnificent museum, theater, or church. At the center of the city lies the Hofburg Imperial Palace, which houses the Habsburg's Treasury (an enormous collection of crowns, jewels, and religious relics from the past 1000 years). We took in the "From Goya to Picasso" exhibit at the fabulous Albertina Museum, and we also ventured down into the crypt of the dead kaisers, archdukes, kings, and their spouses.
Starbucks has made an appearance here, but we tried the decedent sweets and rich coffee found in the local cafes. Continuing our food adventures, we also sampled the wiener schnitzel but still prefer the döner kebap.
