View from the hotel in Torromolinos

The Alhambra is really mind boggling. There is so much detail - stucco work, tile work, designs in the cobblestone pavement, incredible wood work, amazing gardens. This detail was more impressive to me than the architecture. The history is so convoluted (to the point that we bought a book to try and figure it out) that the architecture doesn't really fit together. The beautiful delicate lines of the Muslim parts don't fit with the austere forms of the palace of Charles V. The very simple lines inthe circular interior of the palace is very pleasing, but in a very different way. In short my brain was on overload by the time we left. I am really going to enjoy studying all the wonderfully detailed descriptions in the book.

After lunch with music we headed throughout olive country to Torremolinos and discovered that our hotel overlooks the Mediterranean!
