Well...we made it to Albuquerque, NM. So far after 6 days of travel and 2656 miles we are stopped for 9 days at the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. The trip so far has been very enjoyable and trouble free.
Last night after leaving Nebraska we traveled west into Colorado, then south to the Colorado / New Mexico border. We spent the night in Raton, NM at Ceder Rail RV park which sits some 7834 feet above sea level. Great views from this campground.
This morning we traveled a short 230 miles and arrived at the Fiesta grounds around noon. We have a great view from the front of the coach of the Sandia Mountains and a short walk to the balloon launch field.
After getting set up today we took a walk over to the launch field and met up with Bill and Peg McShea, RV friends from the Granite Staters in NH.
The weather should be perfect tomorrow for the grand opening of the Fiesta and the Mass Ascension of around 600 hot air balloons. If you are interested in watching this event live streamed you can got to KOAT.com a local TV station which will be broadcasting Saturday and Sunday morning. (7AM - 9AM Mountain time/ 9AM-11AM Eastern)
Stay tuned for updates and pictures later on in the week.
